How To Write Creative Copy Every Time
By far the biggest challenge that many writers face is how to write copy that will capture their reader’s interest immediately. Did you know that there are some very simple ways to overcome this common problem that seems to stop many a writer dead in their tracks? Applying the use of a simple technique known as ‘Power Words’, will soon see you writing creative copy without even thinking about it.
Once you have decided what topic you would like to write about, the best thing to do is to outline a plan. Focus on the main points that you would like to draw out for your readers. Select 3 power words for each point. You can select more power words if you like however for the purpose of this article we will use 3 as an example.
Firstly, let’s address how you create an Article Outline and then we will look at what Power Words are and how you can use them effectively.
Creating an Outline for Your Article
Below you can see how I have created an example of a very simple outline for my article. This outline has provided me with clear direction on the topic, outline and words I will use within this article to effectively and easily write something that will keep my readers interested.
Topic:
- Web 2.0 Social Media
Points to be discussed:
- Social Media Websites
- Which is the Best Web 2.0 Website?
- How Can I benefit from Web 2.0?
3 Power Words for Each Point
- Social Media Website = Easy, Fun, Entertaining
- Which Is The Best Web 2.0 Website? = Countless, Endless, Different
- How Can I Benefit from Web 2.0? = Interaction, Socializing, Beneficial
Power Words Will Draw Your Readers
A ‘power word’ is a word that is descriptive and uplifting as opposed to words such as ‘The’, ‘And’, ‘When’, ‘How’ and are designed for the specific purpose of gaining your readers immediate attention so that they read your article in it’s entirety. Completing an Article Outline, including power words you will use, will turn your writing experience into an enjoyable one, rather than a mundane boring battle.
Knowing in advance which words you intend to begin a paragraph with, will help to free up your mind. Next you want to write as fast as you can. Do not stop. Do not edit. Do not think. Just write exactly what comes into your head. Once you have used your 3 power words for that point, move onto the next point in your article. There will be plenty of time to go back and edit your work later.
By the time you reach the end of your article you will have a dynamic piece of writing that clearly displays your writing capabilities. If you don’t believe me, try this and surprise yourself!!!
A Riveting Paragraph Using Power Words
Okay, so now the writing process begins. You have taken the time to decide on the topic you will address, the points you will consider in your article and the ‘power words’ you will use to ensure that your article is uplifting, so that your readers are drawn to your words.
As an example of how to use ‘power words’, let’s use Point 3 of the above Article Outline, as we focus on the topic of Social Media Web 2.0
Point 3 - How Can I Benefit From Web 2.0?
Power Words - Interaction, Socialization, Beneficial
Interaction through the use of Social Media Web 2.0 websites is highly beneficial for building your online business. Using a medium of socialization is a great way to connect with other users in a friendly relaxed atmosphere, whilst chatting about your common interests. Web 2.0 is believed by many expert internet marketers to be the way of the future for online users.
Notice how I have not started one sentence with ‘The’, ‘How’, ‘When’ or any other non-descriptive boring word? Did you also note that each sentence is simply stated, short, and straight to the point? Next time you sit down to write something, apply what you have learned in this article and watch your writing improve rapidly.
